Tender for vehicles in Marmaray project on March 12

| Font Size: default medium large A tender will be held on March 12 for procurement of 440 railway vehicles for the last phase of Marmaray Project.
Through Marmaray Project which is considered the project of the century, Asia and Europe will be connected beneath the water.
Transportation Ministry officials reported on Friday that the tender was earlier postponed to a further date upon requests of international companies bidding for the tender.
South Korean ROTEM, French ALSTOM, Italian Ansaldobreda SPA, Spanish CAF, China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation as well as Bombardier (Canadian)- Siemens (German)-Nurol (Turkish) consortium applied for the tender on June 7th, 2007 for procurement of 440 railway vehicles that will operate on Gebze-Halkali phase of Marmaray Project. China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation failed the pass the pre-evaluation by the Transportation Ministry on June 30th, 2007.
The Ministry invited the companies to the tender on January 16th, 2007, however the companies asked for additional period. The Ministry postponed the tender to February 12th, 2008 and then to March 12th, 2008.
Gebze-Halkali route is 77 kilometers in length; and investment cost of 440 railway vehicles which will operate on this route is set as 750 million euros.
