Alternative solutions have been build up to solve traffic problem in Turkish metropolis of Istanbul.

Mehmet Ozdemir, director general of Istanbul Electric Tram and Funicular Company (IETT), said six more metrobus lines -- a rapid bus transit system-- would be constructed in addition to the existing line between Avcilar and Topkapi districts.

"The construction of metrobus line (one of the six additional lines) between Topkapi and Mecidiyekoy is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Construction of other lines (Mecidiyekoy-Kozyatagi, Edirnekapi-Vezneciler, Kabatas-Besiktas-Levent and Aksaray-Bagcilar) will end in 2008," Ozdemir said.

These lines would solve commuting problem of Istanbul, Ozdemir added.
