A Turkish consortium has bagged the $383.9 million contract to build a water transmission system in a Saudi project.

The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) project is part of its effort to ensure better delivery of potable water and address the problem of water shortage. The project would be completed within 29 months from the signing date, a Yuksel official said.

The project is particularly important for the growing population of Dammam, Alkhobar, Jubail, Ras Tanura, Safwa, Qatif and Sayhat, said Murat Bugday, Yuksel's assistant general manager. The project was likely to be signed later this year, Bugday said, adding that the new pipeline system would supply water into the existing blending stations.
