Family of Mehmet Yilmaz, who was claimed to be a member of al-Qaida and killed in a clash in north of Iraq, applied to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry and Turkish Embassy in Iraq asking them to bring his body back to southeastern city of Gaziantep.

Speaking to reporters Mahmut Yilmaz, father of Mehmet Yilmaz, said his son went missing 8 months ago and they had not heard from him since then.

In August 2004, Pakistani security forces arrested Mehmet Yilmaz and Mahmut Kaplan on charges of being al-Qaida members and fighting against the U.S. forces, and handed them over to Turkish security forces. Yilmaz, who was imprisoned on January 1, 2005 in Turkey, was released few months later.

In a statement released by the U.S. Army, two Turks, Mehmet Yilmaz and Resit Isik, died in a clash on June 23 in the south of Kirkuk.
