Shares up nearly 5 pct in May

Shares gained 4.66 percent value on average in May.
?stanbul Stock Exchange (?MKB) National 100 Index increased from 44,984.45 to 47,081.49, by 2,097.04 points in May. Average monthly increase in the financial index turned out to be 1.54, that in services index appeared to be 9.74 and that in industry index was 8.12 percent.
Under free market, New Turkish Lira sales price of US dollar decreased by 3.36 percent, from 1.3680 YTL to 1.3220 YTL in May. Euro lost 4.62 percent value against YTL this month, falling to 1.7770 YTL in the end of April, English Sterling fell to 2.6100 YTL by 4.57 percent loss in its value and Swiss Franc lost 5.68 percent value decreasing to 1.1080 YTL.
The sales price of 24 carat gold bullion fell by 5.54 percent, from 29.80 to 28.15 YTL in April as that of the Republic gold decreased by 5.47 percent, from 201.00 YTL to 190.00 YTL. The participation certificate of investment funds increased by 0.78 percent in April.
Net monthly gains in treasury bills and government bonds appeared to be between 1.16 and 1.48 percent in April. Investors in repurchase agreements made 1.35 percent net gains. Net gains of deposit rates of 1 month maturity appeared to be 1.19 percent.
